Honda Wins "Greenest Automaker" Award from UCS Again

Honda has been named America's "Greenest Automaker" for the fifth consecutive time by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). This prestigious award has been given to Honda for its lowest combined score of its smog-forming and greenhouse gas emissions (primarily CO2) in its US automobile fleet. Hendrick Honda, as one of the premier Honda car dealer in Woodbridge, VA would like to inform our followers that Honda is leading the UCS rankings of overall vehicle environmental performance since the first UCS study in 2000. Honda has created history with a decade of leadership in reduced vehicle emissions. The carmaker has won this honor with an industry-best score based on model year 2008 data, the latest available for analysis.
As Hendrick Honda believes, Honda continues to accelerate its efforts to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions that contribute to global climate change. Honda has sold a number of green cars promoting “go green” message everywhere and according to the data determined by the Department of Transportation, the automaker has secured a 1 mpg gain in its US corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) for the 2009 model year which is actually up by 3.3% over the previous model year to 31.3 mpg and 9.8% above the MY2009 industry average of 28.8 mpg.

Honda's Insight is the world's most affordable hybrid car and the CR-Z is the world's first production sport hybrid coupe. The all-new 2011 Odyssey minivan and redesigned 2011 Accord score in fuel economy through their use of more efficient low-friction engines and improved vehicle aerodynamics. Not only this, Honda's alternative-fuel vehicles like natural gas-powered Civic GX Sedan and FCX Clarity fuel cell electric vehicle are gaining ground in some states and Honda plans to continue its “green journey” with the proposed battery-electric commuter-sized vehicle and plug-in hybrid technology for mid-size and larger vehicles.
